China's first ship cross-border RMB settlement LNG completed unloading

On May 16, the "Malvern" ship loaded with 65000 tons of liquefied natural gas was unloaded at CNOOC's Guangdong Dapeng LNG Terminal. This ship's cargo is my country's first imported liquefied natural gas settled in RMB, marking my country's oil and gas The exploration of cross-border RMB settlement transactions in the field of trade has taken a substantial step.

It is understood that China, as one of the important buyers of the global LNG market, has continuously expanded the scale of infrastructure and increasing the number of participants in international trade, which has put forward higher requirements for international trade services. According to data from the General Administration of Customs, in 2022, my country will import more than 0.5 billion tons of crude oil and more than 0.1 billion tons of natural gas, of which 63.44 million tons of liquefied natural gas will be imported.

According to the relevant person in charge of the resources and marketing department of CNOOC gas and power group, the RMB settlement of international LNG trade is conducive to promoting the docking of international and domestic markets and the circulation of resources at home and abroad. The promotion of international LNG procurement to be settled in RMB is a useful practice of CNOOC to promote the globalization of energy trade and create a diversified ecology of LNG trading.

This cross-border RMB transaction was reached between CNOOC and Total Energy at the Shanghai Oil and Gas Trading Center in March. The "Malvern" ship loaded with liquefied natural gas from the United Arab Emirates arrived at CNOOC's Guangdong Dapeng LNG terminal on May 15 after a 26-day sea voyage. After the LNG gasification treatment, the ship will be transported to power plants, city gas and other users through pipelines, providing a strong guarantee for the stable supply of natural gas in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
